The Fluvanna Art Association will celebrate 50 years of contributing art to the community in 2025. Each year, the association grows in its diversity and with its experienced members. This year, the FAA added a summer exhibit at the library, rotating between the themed show and the People’s Choice judged show in the fall. The work of artists is also available in the main library as well.

This exhibit is an effort for the public to see the beautiful, eclectic, and fine work of FAA members and to encourage others interested in the visual arts to join the association and learn and grow. Many current members come from various backgrounds, including teaching, design, and graphic arts. Many are award winners and some have work featured in local galleries and up and down the eastern seaboard. Their creativity and imagination are limitless and amazing.

During the early years, it was painters who were the featured artists, mostly oil then acrylic but as techniques evolved so did the tools and techniques they used. The FAA not only boasts of seasoned painters in oils, acrylics, and watercolor; but also in colored pencil, ink, pastel, photography, glass and other sculptures, wood, metal, collage, and mixed media. They have learned to utilize the latest tools in the market to their advantage and share their skills and knowledge with fellow artists.

This summer exhibit, which runs through Aug. 20 at the Fluvanna County Public Library is a testament to these artists and their contributions. It is also a place for visual artists to have a voice by showing their work and for the public to see it and enjoy it.
