Missing for 10 years: Janet Renee Field

Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office Press Release

Ten years ago, over the July 4th weekend, the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into a missing person – Janet Renee Field.

The investigation has remained open and active ever since. Field, who goes by Renee, was reportedly last seen by her husband, Lewis Field, on July 2, 2014, at her home near Scottsville.

On July 4, 2014, her vehicle and personal belongings were located at the commuter parking lot near I-64 in Zion Crossroads. The sheriff’s office continues to treat this as a suspicious disappearance and follows up on leads as they are provided.

Due to Janet Renee Field’s reclusive lifestyle, traditional missing person leads have given little insight on her whereabouts. Sheriff’s office investigators implore the public, including those who may have known or interacted with her or her husband, to contact the office with any information they feel may be relevant to the investigation. We are truly relying on the public for leads and information as we work toward finding Janet Renee Field and finding closure for her father and family. Anyone who has been given information or remembers anything about Janet Renee Field or the time around her disappearance, no matter how insignificant it may feel, is strongly encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office at 434-589-8211 and provide that information to a deputy or investigator for follow up.

As always, we appreciate the support of our community toward locating Janet.
