Local artist wins four awards in Plein Air competitions in Maryland & Virginia

Armand Cabrera was juried into two prestigious plein air shows: Harford Plein Air and Plein Air Abingdon.

He was awarded “Best in Show” at Plein Air Abingdon in addition to “Best Quick Draw”.

At Harford Plein Air, Armand won the “Quick Draw” and the “Best Use of Light” awards.

Maryland’s Harford County hosts a premier Plein Air Festival annually. It is comprised of a juried competition and a quick draw competition, drawing professional artists from across the U.S. to capture the county’s charms.  Plein Air Abingdon is located in a picturesque town in Southwest Virginia.  It is part of the Virginia Highlands Festival. Plein Air Abingdon is a three day painting event celebrating its 8th year.

Armand’s painting “Approaching Rain Franklin Cliffs”, 11” x 14” oil commanded the highest sale price at the first Shenandoah National Park Trust Plein Air Art Auction at Quievremont Vineyards in Little Washington, Virginia.

Modern Impressionist Magazine featured Armand’s eight page step-by-step demo in their Sept /Oct issue. The article showcased the creation of Armand’s “McCormack Gap Overlook”, a 30” x 40” oil.

Armand Cabrera makes his home at Lake Monticello. An award-winning, self-taught artist, Armand is a full-time oil painter represented by fine art galleries across the United States.
