Fluvanna County Director of Emergency Services James True was arrested on Friday (Jan. 10) on seven counts of sexual battery and two counts of assault and battery. All the charges are misdemeanors.
County Attorney Daniel Whitten announced the arrest on Saturday, saying that True had turned himself in at the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office and was being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail. He is scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday (Jan. 14).
Whitten said the criminal charges “developed after two county employees filed initial crime reports.” The alleged crimes are said to have occurred between October 2023 and July 2024.
True was named as director of emergency services in April 2023.
Upon learning of the first filed charge, True was immediately placed on administrative leave
by County Administrator Eric Dahl.
