A polar plunge is scheduled for March 29, from 3 to 5 p.m., at Lake Monticello to raise money for Team for Kids.
“I decided to do a polar plunge because I always have thought they were fun, and I thought it would be a good way to bring the community together for a great cause,” said Shae Sebetzki, the event organizer. The polar plunge is free.
Before the plunge, raffles, treats and a kid’s craft table will be available. Any proceeds raised will go to Team For Kids.
Sebetzki said, “Team for Kids is all about getting kids introduced to running and keeping them active. They raise money to help pay for racing fees and training programs so children can run in races and be prepared for them.”
Sebetzki is raising money in a variety of other ways, including bake sales.
“On a random day in March of last year, I had the courage to sign up for the lottery for the NYC marathon; out of the 165,000 people who signed up, 6,500 randomly got picked, and I was one of them! I had so much fun but I’ll admit, I did not prepare well enough. I wanted to go back and give it another shot, this time for a good cause.”
