Kents store man fatally shot; another arrested for homicide

A Kents Store man was fatally shot Sunday and another arrested for his murder at a residence in the 3000 block of Kents Store Way.

Marcus Allen Vargas, 30, was pronounced dead at about 6:31 p.m. from a gunshot wound. Zhamere Llada Ross, 25, has been arrested and is currently in custody for homicide, according to the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office. 

Authorities are continuing to process the scene and evidence. Vargas’ body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond.  

“At this time, the nature or cause of the initial disturbance is still unknown and remains under investigation,” according to the sheriff’s office.. “More information will be released as it becomes available and if appropriate. This incident appears to be an isolated incident and there is no continue threat to the community. The sheriff and his staff wish to extend their condolences to the family of Mr. Vargas during their time of loss and grief.”

The sheriff’s office also thanked the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police for their assistance.
