Fluco athletes win many well deserved awards; coaches too

The Fluco Spring sports teams performed well this year and understandably a number of athletes were recognized for outstanding performances in the Jefferson District and at the Region level.

In soccer, a rising senior, Brady Crisp was named Class 3 Player of the Year for his excellent work on defense for the Flucos. For the second year in a row Crisp was All-Region and All-District. He was joined on the District and Region first team by Fluco midfielder Tavin Cook, who will be graduating. 

The Fluco baseball team placed four athletes on the All-Jefferson District first team. Pitcher Caden Harris, shortstop Sam Loving, outfielder Jackson Fields and designated hitter Camden Via were all selected. Loving is a rising senior, other three have graduated. Harris also made the All-Region first team, as did Jayden Hoy and Via.

The Fluco girls softball team had three players elected to the All-District team. Freshman  Allison Gomez, Jillian Davis and Lila Schwartz made the team. Davis was also named to the All-Region first team. For the girls soccer team, defender Piper LaRochelle was a first team All- District selection.

The track and field team had a number of All-Region selections. Anna Amato and Ruby Frazier in the 1600 and the 3200 (the metric mile and two mile) Garrett Jordan in the 200 and 400 dashes, Kam Green in the 200, Jackson Fields in the 200, Zion Cherbin in the long jump and Jack Jefferies in the 1600 run. In addition, the 4X100 relay team was also All-Region. It consisted of Jordan, Green, Amir Toney and Andre Key.

Coach of Year honors were garnered by boy’s soccer coach Jason Davis and baseball coach Joel Gray.

A number of Fluco athletes were honored as second team District and/or Region performers. In boy’s soccer, Ivan Patchett was second team All-District and All-Region. The baseball team placed Caden Harris and Brody Shields, a sophomore,  on the All-Jefferson District second team. Harris made the first team as a pitcher and the second team as a first baseman. Fields was second team All-Region. Second team All-Region for the softball team was Aleah Anderson. 

The girls lacrosse team had four players make the second team All-Jefferson District. They were, Mia Grace Dixon, Emmalyn White, Ava Schwartz and Megan Drumheller The boy’s lacrosse team put two players on the All-Jefferson District second team. They were Javier Campos and Henry Jeffries. On the All-Region second team was Andrew Williams. Girl’s soccer second team All-District was Reese Yowell. A host to Fluco athletes were named Honorable Mention in their respective sports.
