Fluvanna County Public Schools welcomed a new group of teachers at the annual orientation breakfast on Tuesday (July 29) at Fluvanna County Middle School.

The breakfast is an opportunity for new hires to meet the district’s senior staff and county officials in an informal setting.

It is also a chance for new teachers to learn more about the division’s philosophy of collaboration and adaptability.

The wifi was out at the school during the session, giving Executive Director Don Stribling a built-in lesson for the group. “That happens, and as educators, the day does not stop. The kids do not just stay home,” he said. “But you have to adjust and make things happen.”

Administrators were confident that the newcomers would become lifelong Flucos.

“Network. Find your people. You will love it here,” said Central Elementary Principal Amy Barnabei.

This was the smallest group of new hires in recent years, with about two dozen people joining the division for the 2025-2026 school year.

Among the incoming staff was Danny Reed, who resigned his seat as Fork Union representative on the School Board to accept a position with Fluvanna County High School’s CTE program.

An interim successor for his seat will be selected by the School Board at a special meeting on Aug. 20.
