Lake Monticello’s first annual Pickle With Purpose pickleball tournament Saturday drew 42 happy players from the Lake, around central Virginia and as far away as Harrisonburg, raising money to benefit the community service projects of the Lake Monticello Community Foundation.
Players complimented tournament managers Glen and Susan Mead, with help from others, and organizer Craig Conboy for the quality of the venue and the weather, the organization, and the large array of attendance and other prizes.
Winners in the 3.25 and under category included: gold, Alex Martinez and Chris Wagner; silver, Cathy Burrier and John Chilson; and bronze, Gloria Morgan and Tracey Tucker. In the 3.5 and higher bracket, winners were: gold, Greg Gallello and Marcus Marquez; silver, Chase Colvin and Tamarius Washington; and bronze, Jessica James and Michael Combs.
Kimberly Kidd was the winner of the top prize in the raffle, a Connor Garnett Pro XR paddle.
