The Fluvanna County High School volleyball team had an excellent season, finishing 20-5. In the Region 3C quarterfinal they topped fourth seeded Broadway High 3-2. In the Region semi-final they fell to Liberty Christian Academy (LCA) 3-0. LCA went on to win the Region title.
Against Broadway, standout senior Molly McCall recorded 20 kill shots, six blocks and 17 digs, a very impressive stat line. Senior Ellie Garret also had an impressive match with 19 assists and five service aces. Also contributing were Norah Ferrell, 10 assists, Kayia Wrigley 13 digs and Mariah Quinn five kills and two blocks.
In their semi-finals loss to LCA, McCall was again a stand-out. She had 13 kill shots and one block. Garrett had four kills, 13 assists and one block. Ferrell had 11 assists, while Carson Joohnston, Alyssa Lewis and Quinn all had three kills.
Fluco Coach Christi Harlowe said that many of her players garnered some post-season honor. Leading the way was McCall. She was Jefferson District player of the year and first team All-Jefferson District, and All-Region 3C first team.
Garrett was first team All-Jefferson District, as was Ferrell. Garrett was also second team All-Region 3C. Wrigley was second team All-Jefferson District, as a libero. Johnston and Lewis were both Honorable Mention in the Jefferson District.
Ferrell and Lewis are under classmen and will return next season.
