Lowell Calvin Vaught, 86, of Woodbridge, Virginia, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord on November 25, 2025, at 2:30 a.m., surrounded by the love and prayers of his family. Born on November 14, 1938, to Lowell Palmer Vaught and Grace Jewel Vaught, he was raised in a home grounded in faith, integrity, and service—values that shaped his remarkable life.
Lowell lived a purpose-filled life devoted to God, his family, and the many lives he touched. He was the beloved husband of Alice Eileen Vaught, his faithful partner in life and ministry.
A dedicated servant of the Gospel, Lowell pastored numerous churches throughout the years, ministering with compassion, humility, and a true shepherd’s heart. He also served as Chaplain at Fork Union Military Academy, where his steady guidance and Christlike mentorship shaped and strengthened countless young men. His ministry left a legacy of hope and encouragement that will continue for generations.
Before entering full-time ministry, Lowell achieved a remarkable distinction: he played professional football and took the field in the first-ever Super Bowl as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs. His discipline, determination, and competitive spirit remained defining traits throughout his life.
Lowell is survived by his wife, Alice Eileen Vaught; his children, David H. Vaught and Laura Lee Simmons; his siblings, Evelena, Randall, and Romie; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many friends, church members, and young men whose lives were uplifted by his kindness, guidance, and gentle strength.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Fork Union, Virginia, with details to be announced. Interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to local charity or church in his memory.
