Fluvanna residents top most Virginians in net worth

Fluvanna County residents have among the highest per capita net worth in Virginia, according to the financial services company SmartAsset.com.

“Our study aims to find the places in the United States where residents have the highest net worth,” the company said in reporting its findings. “To do this, we calculated the ratio of net worth to per capita income for every county.”
Their analysis found Fluvannians have a per capita net worth of $60,275.

Net worth is defined as the value of things you own (assets) minus what you owe in debts (liabilities).

Per capita income in Fluvanna is $30,220 and per capita debt is $51,807.

Looking at the percentages of net worth to income and net worth to debt, SmartAsset.com created an index, on which Fluvanna ranked ninth out of the top 10 counties.

At the top of the list were Posequon, near Hampton Roads, and Fairfax, in Northern Virginia.
