Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a student who they say threatened to commit a school shooting.
The sheriff’s office was notified Friday (Dec. 21) at 7:24 p.m. of a threatening post on social media regarding the Fluvanna County High School. The post was a picture of the high school with a caption that read, “im bout to shoot this bitch up,” according to a sheriff’s office press release.
“Deputies worked quickly to identify and arrest the threat maker, who was a 16-year-old student of the school,” according to the release.
Deputies obtained a petition for a violation of the section of Virginia code that pertains to threats to commit serious bodily harm to persons on school property, and a detention order was issued, according to the release.
The juvenile was arrested later that evening, according to Capt. Von Hill of the sheriff’s office.
The student is being held at the Blue Ridge Detention Center, according to the release.
“As this case involves a juvenile and is pending court, no further information will be released,” the release stated.
