Antoinette M. Wolowski

Antoinette “Anty” Marie Wolowski, 91, originally from Plains, Penn., but who moved to Lake Monticello in Palmyra, Va., in 2007, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019, at the Hospice House in Charlottesville, Va. She was born Aug. 14, 1927, in Plains, Penn., a daughter of the late Benjamin Wolowski and Anna Grobinski. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Josephine Westawski, Stephanie Stuart, Elizabeth Kuzemka and Dolores Bennett; and her brothers, Joseph, Walter and Stanley Wolowski. She is survived by her nephews Michael Kuzemka and James Radzville from Virginia, and many close nieces, nephews, and extended family from Alaska, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Virginia and Texas. She is also survived by great-nieces Ana and Brin Kuzemka, Lauren Watkins, and many other great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was a second mother and grandmother to them all. Additionally, her longtime friend, “Uncle” Frank Hoffman of Wilkes-Barre, Penn., preceded her in death.

Anty, a life-long Catholic, had formerly worked at the Plains Blouse Factory in Plains, Pa. Anty was a word search master and loved to watch football and baseball, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, U.Va. sports, and the Phillies, but her real joy in life was caring for so many young children of the family, whom she raised like they were her own. If you met Anty, you would instantly feel like you were a part of her family. She made the best pierogi, kielbasa and her famous toll house cookies. She was a very special person and will be greatly missed. Last year, surrounded by her loving family in Plains, Penn., Anty celebrated a special surprise 90thbirthday party, a day she never forgot. She danced the polka with all those she loved.

A memorial service will be conducted at Antioch Baptist Church at 4422 Antioch Road in Scottsville, Va. by Pastor David Vogt on Friday, May 17, 2019, at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Anty’s memory may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, Va. 22911.
