Student taken into custody for school threats

The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office has taken a student into custody for making threats of violence against the county schools.

The schools received a threat on Tuesday (Feb. 25) stating “…We ready for tomorrow because we finna (sic) (expletive omitted) everyone up,” according to a press release from the sheriff’s office. The threat led school officials to close schools today (Feb. 26). The schools also received a tip about a threat the day before, on Monday, Feb. 24.

Both threats were sent  via the school system’s QuickTip instant alert link.

The press release stated that: “The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office was able to locate that source as a home in Fluvanna County. A juvenile student was identified as residing at that home. Deputies went to the home and spoke with the juvenile and family. During such time the juvenile admitted to sending both messages. The juvenile was taken into custody and taken to the Blue Ridge Detention Center…After deputies interviewed the juvenile and their family, the juvenile admitted there were no plans to actually harm anyone and that no other parties are involved. The juvenile did not have any known access to firearms. It appears the juvenile made these threats as a prank.”
