Fluvanna Democrats open campaign office

Press release

“Running a political campaign office during a pandemic raises a whole new set of problems,” said Su Wolff, resident of the Lefty Lunch Ladies, which opened their campaign office to support Democratic candidates at 7 Centre Court, near the Dogwood Restaurant.

“In the past there were grand openings, pizza-party-phone-banking, and the like,” Wolff said. “But this year the first concern had to be keeping our volunteers and supporters safe and healthy, in addition to supporting all the Democratic candidates.”

“The Lefty Lunch Ladies, a progressive organization in Fluvanna, worked with the Fluvanna County Democratic Committee to design the appropriate type of office for this year’s environment,” said Wolff and Helen Schoene, co-chair of the Fluvanna County Democratic Committee. Many of the 300 members of the Lefty Lunch Ladies group “contributed what they could” to support the office,” Wolff said.

Since the office opened Aug. 1, volunteers have made phone calls, written thousands of postcards to neighbors, and distributed signs, buttons, and bumper stickers.  “Most of all, the office has provided a place of comfort for Fluvanna County residents (Democrat, Republican or Independent).  They know we all need to work hard to save our Democracy through this election,” Schoene said.
