Almost 10,000 Fluvanna residents voted early

The last day Virginians could vote early in person was Saturday (Oct. 31). Early votes will continue to arrive by mail so these numbers will change when the final tally is done. A total of 9,960 Fluvanna residents had already cast their ballots by Oct. 30. In our most recent presidential election in 2016, only 1,938 early votes were cast. This is the first year in Virginia that early voters did not have to provide a reason to vote ahead of Election Day.

In Fluvanna, 531.5 people per 1,000 registered voters have already voted in comparison to 459.3 per 1,000 in the Piedmont region and 453.8 per 1,000 across the Commonwealth. (Statistics from the Virginia Public Access Project; data from the Virginia Department of Elections.) – Tricia Johnson
