Joanne Lynne Harris

Joanne Lynne Harris, 70, of Palmyra, VA passed away at home surrounded by family on March 6, 2021 in the Lake Monticello community of Fluvanna County.

Joanne was born in the Panama Canal Zone to Elsa and Frank Roberts on September 1, 1950. She married Robert Harris in July, 1970 in Miami, Florida where they resided until 1981.

She is a graduate of Brenau University in Gainesville, GA, where she earned her BSN degree. Her career included clinical nursing in the cardiology department for Baptist Hospital of Miami, assisting in cardiac catheterizations and oncology research at Emory University in Atlanta, and oncology research at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

She was active in the Jack Jouett Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Friendship Force of Central Virginia. She also was a Master Gardener and served on the steering committee for the Fluvanna County Community Garden.

Joanne is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Elsa Roberts.

Joanne is survived by her husband, Robert E. Harris, Sr.; her son, Robert E. Harris, Jr, of Marietta, GA; her daughters, Deanna Stanley  of Apex, NC and Rebecca Carroll, of Oak Hill, VA; her sisters, Donna Kobzeff of Whittier CA, Phyllis Grassman of Orange Park, FL, and Cheryl Wilcox of Salt Lake City, UT, and her brother, Willard Roberts, of Lakeview, WA.   She has seven grandchildren ranging in age from 1 to 16. They are Lauren Stanley, Zachary Stanley, Sarah Kate Harris, Hadley Harris, Preston Carroll, Emmeline Carroll, and Audrey Carroll.

A memorial mass will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 4309 Thomas Jefferson Pkwy, Palmyra, VA 22963, on Monday March 15, 2021 and her ashes interred at Monticello Memory Gardens immediately thereafter.
