Sept. 11, 1934-June 19, 2021
Chuck Everline died peacefully in his sleep on June 19, 2021 with his wife of 63 years by his side. Originally from western Maryland, he grew up the youngest of six – the ‘baby’ of the family!
After high school, Chuck graduated from the University of Maryland. After serving two years in the Army, Chuck continued his career as a civil servant and retired from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as Chief Compliance Officer after 35 years. He loved his work and took his responsibility as a public servant very seriously. He worked behind the scenes to keep the American food supply safe.
Chuck was active in the community and church, serving and giving back were always a priority for him. He was a long-time member of Mill Creek Parish United Methodist Church in Derwood Maryland and Palmyra United Methodist Church, once he moved to Virginia after retirement.
He enjoyed singing in school, university, and church choirs from his teens until about five years ago when his health no longer allowed it. Chuck was introduced to sailing by his brother-in-law, Chuck Mullet. He learned to sail and discovered the wonder of cruising the Chesapeake Bay on a sailboat.
He is survived by the love of his life, Diane Everline, his eldest brother Lewis Everline, his children Donna Hartzell, Mark Everline and Paul Everline and wife Terri; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at Palmyra United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you remember Palmyra Methodist Church Music program, and The Lake Monticello Fire Department or a charity of your choice.
