Fluvanna votes for Good

Bob Good handily defeated Democratic challenger Josh Throneburg on Tuesday (Nov. 8), winning about 57 percent of the vote across the 5th District.
In Fluvanna County, Good won 53.3 percent of the vote to Throneburg’s 46.5 percent. As of Friday afternoon (Nov. 11), Good had won 6,234 votes and Throneburg 5,450 votes. Some absentee ballots had yet to be recorded.
Based on the available numbers, Fluvanna’s turnout rate was around 58 percent, relatively high for a midterm election. Fluvanna County has 20,175 active registered voters, with at least 11,710 votes cast.
In a statement released late on Tuesday night, Good thanked voters for returning him to Congress. “It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to serve as your representative these past two years, and I am truly grateful for your continued support.”
“I am committed to continuing to fight for you in Washington,” he continued, “and I pledge to work relentlessly to secure the border, balance the budget, put parents and children first in education, restore our constitutional freedoms, and hold the Biden administration accountable.”
In a statement on Twitter on Thursday, Throneburg said “Tuesday’s results were not what we hoped and we are disappointed, but we’re proud of the campaign we ran. I have learned so much through this campaign and I have a deep sense of excitement about putting that knowledge to work, but for today I wanted to say thank you,” praising his family and his campaign staff and volunteers for their support.
