Carol Cahill

Carol Cahill departed this life on Jan. 21, 2024 just a few weeks after her 95th birthday, at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Center in  Charlottesville, VA.

Her parents were Michael Lawrence Cahill and Margaret Honor Cahill. The family lived in Flushing, Long Island, N.Y. and Montauk Pt., Long Island, NY.

Carol never married or had children. She traveled the world and spoiled her sisters, niece and nephews. She excelled in sports of every kind and was wild about card games. She loved her 1964 Ford Mustang. She was proud of her Scotch-Irish ancestry and a proud member of the DAR, NSDU and UDC.  A wonderful friend to many, she was always cheerful and engaging.

Carol was an accomplished career woman  working for Lever Brothers (now Uni-lever) headquartered on Park Ave., NYC. She was the head of employee benefits for 25 years. She retired in 1988.

She and her sister Eleanor moved to Lake Monticello VA in 1994. During the 25 plus years in Fluvanna, they volunteered together at the Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire & Rescue Auxiliary, on Lake Monticello activities/special events, at the Fluvanna County Historical Society, Fluvanna County Public Schools, Meals on Wheels, the Fluvanna library and at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Carol is survived by her oldest sister Eleanor. Her niece, Lynn Stayton-Eurell, Lynn’s husband Michael Eurell and their daughter and son in-law, Mackenzie and Dustin Kirk; her nephews Lee and Lawrence Stayton and their families, and nephew David Johnson. Carol was preceded in death  by her oldest sister Peggy and her husband Alan and four of their sons, Michael W., Stuart, Alan and Michael E. Johnson.

No public service is planned.

We ask that remembrance donations in her name be made to the Lake Monticello Fire & Rescue Auxiliary.
