Fun Fact of the Week: did you know that a sperm whale’s vocalizations are louder than a jet engine? They are the loudest animals on earth, capable of making sounds up to 230 decibels; jet engines cap out at around 150 decibels. Wow!
Leadership
Registration for Fluvanna Leadership Development Program will continue through Aug. 15, but the class fills quickly. It’s designed to show how Fluvanna County works and how to effectively get things done. In-person classes are every other Thursday, Aug. 22 – April 7 (except holidays) and include opportunities to meet everyone who’s anyone in Fluvanna. Registration costs $75 and includes a free bus tour of the county, lunch, a graduation dinner and snacks at classes. Registration and additional information are at www.fluvannaleadership.org.

Mike Hartling used to own the Dogwood Restaurant. Now that he’s retired, he’s opened up a fun new food truck called Tasty Vittles! You may have seen Tasty Vittles food truck at other events the past few weeks. Now he’s coming to our very own Crofton Plaza two days a week! Every Tuesday and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. come on out to sample delicious bites -changed up weekly.
On Saturday, July 6, come on out to Cunningham Creek Winery for Wine, Beer, & Wieners night! Join them for a summer celebration of your favorite Cunningham Creek beverages and a sausage themed menu from Chef Roderick at Simply Trending Catering! He will be on site throughout the weekend for all of your holiday relaxation eats, designed to pair with Cunningham Creek’s incredible wines and delicious beers.
Music
On Friday, July 5th, Cunningham Creek Winery is hosting their Music Bingo night from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Head out for a night of the greatest hits and enjoy Simply Trending Food Truck on site for all of your dinner needs!
Ability to sing is not necessary! Just a fun attitude and a love of music!
Dan and the Fam will be performing at the Pleasant Grove Park for their Groovin’ at the Grove series on July 13! Music kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and entry is free. This band is classed as “A melodic odyssey of sonic exploration.” Dan & The Fam is a psychedelic groove rock band from Richmond that delivers unforgettable live performances filled with soul soaring originals, funky improvised arrangements, and special guest sit-ins that make every show unique.
