James Quentin Grant, 80, of Lake Monticello, formerly of Sullivan, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He passed following complications from an injury he sustained.
Jim graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Food Science and began his professional journey with Del Monte. His career flourished, leading him to retire from Conagra Foods in project management. A man of vision and drive, Jim partnered with his close friend Dennis Sites to establish New Country Builders.
Beyond building homes, a job that he loved, Jim was an avid golfer. He enjoyed the camaraderie the game provided, but also loved the competition it would bring. Not only did he enjoy playing golf at Lake Monticello and the surrounding area, he also enjoyed many golf trips with the guys.
Jim was blessed with two sons, Gary(Chrissy) and Greg(Cari). He was incredibly proud of his sons and the lives they built. In 1985 Jim married Debbie and together welcomed daughter Whitney.
Jim’s greatest joy came from his role as a grandfather. He adored his grandchildren – Damien, Ava, Bentlee, Tanner, and Paige, beyond measure. Nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with them, sharing stories, lessons, and unconditional love.
He was an incredibly intelligent man, respected for his knowledge, success, and willingness to mentor others. Jim will be sorely missed. We will forever hold him dear in our hearts.
