Honoring a hero with a Quilt of Honor

PRESS RELEASE

The Lake Monticello Piecemakers, a local volunteer and quilting group, on Aug. 7 honored Lt. Col. Glenn L. Myers, a Vietnam veteran and former POW, with a Quilt of Valor in recognition of his extraordinary service to our country.

Lt. Col. Myers served in the U.S. Air Force from 1965 to 1985, spending nearly six years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. This intricate and heartfelt quilt—crafted by more than a dozen members of the Piecemakers—was presented in a ceremony at the Ashlawn Clubhouse. The quilt was draped over the veteran by loved ones in the traditional gesture of love, gratitude, and healing. Members of the Piecemakers and the LMOA community then lined up to offer Lt. Col. Myers a hug, honoring both the spirit of the quilt and showing a deep appreciation for his courage and sacrifice. Thank you, Lt. Col. Myers, for your service.
