It’s time to get your planting beds ready.
Decide where you want new colors or textures. Estimate how many vegetables or herbs you’ll need. Plan a special spot for pollinator attractors. And give yourself permission to add a few unexpected whims.
The Annual Fluvanna Master Gardener Plant Sale is coming on May 2, starting at 9 a.m.
For the past few months, Master Gardeners have been carefully nurturing a wide variety of seedlings, and are ready to send them off to flourish in new home gardens.
Those plants will be on sale alongside selections thinned from the gardeners’ own beds, as well as proven pollinator favorites from the Butterfly Garden at Pleasant Grove Park.
This once-a-year event offers annuals and perennials for both sun and shade, along with popular vegetables, herbs, and native pollinator attractors—all grown and selected with Fluvanna’s local conditions in mind.
The sale runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Park & Ride lot at Turkeysag, across from Jefferson Pharmacy. Credit cards will be accepted for purchases of $10 or more.
In the event of serious rain, the sale will be rescheduled to Sunday, May 3, from 1–4 p.m. at the same location.
This is the only annual fundraiser for the Fluvanna Master Gardeners, supporting a $1,000 scholarship for post-secondary studies in horticulture and 4-H Summer Camp sponsorships.
