Robert G. “Bob” Rockholt of Lake Monticello VA passed away on March 17, 2026, after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born on September 12, 1947 in Charlotte, NC.
In his youth, Bob earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He married Sheila Tanner in 1967 and shared 58 years of marriage. Robert was proud of his military service from 1968-1972 in the Army Security Agency, and was a third-generation auto mechanic, sought out frequently for his expertise. He spent seven years as an EMT with Lake Monticello Rescue Squad, winning “Outstanding First Year EMT”.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila of Lake Monticello; son Daniel (Michelle), and daughter Cynthia (Jim); three grandsons, Robert, Benjamin, and Theodore; his brother, Ed Rockholt (Sheila), and sister Lynn Carter (Grover). He was a beloved uncle and great-uncle of numerous nieces and nephews and leaves many precious longtime friends.
Preceding him in death are his birth mother, Jean Smith; and his parents Charles and Erma Rockholt.
The Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Beaverdam Baptist Church, 1794 Richmond Rd, Troy, VA 22974.
