Lake Advisory Group Offers Discounted Membership, Beginner-Friendly Play

By Mike Feazel

Lake Monticello is offering a half-price semi-annual membership to use its Ashlawn racquet courts starting Sept. 1, and the Pickleball Advisory Group (PAG) will offer new ways for new people to try out the fast-growing sport.

Among other offerings, certified pickleball coach Glen Mead will offer a free class for new pickleball players at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at the Ashlawn courts.

The PAG will also offer weekly “beginner-friendly” pickleball sessions at 6 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Wednesday, Sept. 9. The sessions don’t include formal instruction, but more-experienced players will be on hand to help beginners learn the game.

Semi-annual racquet membership fees for Lake residents effective Sept. 1 will be $82.50 for individuals, $135 per couple, and $217.50 for a family. Associate member fees will be $120 per person. Membership rates are effective until the start of the new season in March.
