Students at Carysbrook Elementary participate in Run Around Fluvanna each day at recess time. Recess either begins or ends with a jog around a quarter mile track marked in the grass. Classes mark the journey on a classroom map. When a class arrives at a new community in Fluvanna, they send a postcard back to the school. Postcards are displayed on a large map of Fluvanna for all to see. Principal Don Stribling said, “Having students run every day is so good for them. It builds endurance, helps them concentrate in class and bolsters self esteem. I’m looking forward to their going all the way around Fluvanna and back home to “The Brook.”
