Holly Chen told the paper that the panels her company wants to develop are designed to help homes use energy more efficiently, allowing utility companies to generate less power and more effectively meet demand from customers.
Intelligent Service Panel, located in Palmyra, wants to start putting these panels in new homes in 2013, she said. Eventually, she said, the market could grow as it retrofits existing homes, according to the news story.
The company won the Tech Challenge Hanover, a competition among emerging Virginia technology companies. In addition to receiving a $10,000 prize, the company will get six months of no-rent tenant space in the Dominion Resources Innovation Center, a business incubator in Hanover County.
The competition drew 42 applicants.
