It was an extremely intense and well-played game. As Fluco coach Munro Rateau noted after the game, “They made their three pointers this game, and their free throws at the end.”
The Flucos trailed by nine midway through the first period and were down by five at the end of the half. Western opened the lead to ten after three quarters, but the Flucos fought back to cut the lead to two midway through the fourth quarter. However, Western then scored six in a row to open the lead to eight, and the Flucos just couldn’t close the gap.
Sophomores Vinnie Agee and Jalen Harrison again led the Flucos in scoring with 30 and 19 respectively. Seniors Brad Bullock and Dale Ludwig contributed 12 and 9. The Flucos will now play in the Region II tournament. They open the tournament at Handley High School in Winchester on Tuesday (Feb. 19). – Duncan Nixon
