The Virginia Department of Transportation has plans to widen the intersection at the corner of Rts. 53 and 618 and to install a left-hand turn lane for east-bound traffic from Rt. 53 turning onto Rt. 618.
Discussions about the proposed gate have been going on for nearly five years. In 2009, LMOA purchased the vacant lot at 565 Jefferson for the purpose of constructing the new gate on Rt. 618.
