Kent served the citizens of Fluvanna County in prior years on its Electoral Board, School Board, Planning Commission, and as the Commissioner of the Revenue for 16 years. He was a Deacon, Trustee, Treasurer and Sunday School Director of Lyles Baptist Church. Kent was president of the Fluvanna Farm Bureau for many years and the past president of the Virginia Beef Cattle Improvement Association. He was a 4-H Club All Star and served as Virginia’s first exchangee in the International Farm Youth Exchange Program. Kent was the owner and operator of Loving’s tax service for over 50 years. Funeral services were held at Lyles Baptist Church in Wilmington, Virginia, at 92 Lyles Church Lane, Palmyra, Virginia 22963, on Monday, October 14, 2013, at 2 p.m. with interment following at the church cemetery.
