The unbeaten Trailblazers from Spotswood High School opened the game with a very impressive combination of intense pressing defense and outstanding outside shooting, and ran to a 28-7 lead after one quarter. The Flucos played them even the rest of the way losing 73-52. Coach Munro Rateau noted that his young team may have been a little intimidated at first, but he was pleased with how the team rebounded from adversity in the second half. The Flucos were led by freshman post player Aamir Simms who dumped in 23 points, mostly on put backs on the offensive boards. Junior guard Talavious Hughes chipped in with eight points. – Duncan Nixon
