Robert Lester Cox, 92, of Chesterfield, Va. died peacefully at the home of Robert D. and Toni C. Cox of Palmyra. His son, Robert was by his father’s side when he passed away. Mr. Cox was a frequent visitor to Robert and Toni’s home in Palmyra, visiting Grace and Glory Lutheran Church until he became too frail. His favorite time to visit was during Old Farm Day where he could identify the old implements he used as a boy growing up on a farm in Lexington, Va. He loved to buy the fresh apple butter and insisted we be among the first ones at the event, “before they ran out.”
Mr. Cox was laid to rest on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Chester, Va., next to his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary Louise Cox.
The Cox family would like to thank Rescue Unit 49 for their assistance during Mr. Cox’s final days. Robert and Toni could not have cared for Mr. Cox at their home without the support of the Hospice of the Piedmont, and are profoundly grateful for their service.
