Mrs. Kane was a volunteer director for the festival for eight years. She was well loved by the artists and crafters who exhibited at the show. Mrs. Kane was a beloved member of Effort Baptist Church at Lake Monticello. She volunteered at Vacation Bible School, and with the distribution of food, at the church, from the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. She also volunteered as a dog walker at Caring for Creatures in Palmyra, Va. Her greatest joy was to give of herself and love her family and friends well. A memorial is planned at 2 p.m. for Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Effort Baptist Church in Lake Monticello, Va. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of the Piedmont, the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank or Caring for Creatures.
