Capt. Robert G. Carlson

He is survived by his wife Barbara L. Carlson; a daughter, Mary Carlson Dunklee; three stepchildren: Julie Chenery Tuman, Robert Chenery II, and Christopher Chenery; a brother Larry with wife Jean and sister-in-law Barbara J. Carlson of Jefferson, Ohio; a brother Kenneth Carlson of Ashtabula, Ohio; four grandsons and nieces and nephews.

With outstanding service as a naval officer and carrier pilot, Bob was a member of the coveted and historical list of Navy pilots who belong to the “1000 Trap Club” with more than 1,000 carrier landings, an achievement noted on a plaque at the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida.

Upon his 28 year service retirement, he was also a successful real estate broker in Virginia Beach, and a four year EMT of the Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire & Rescuew. Throughout his life, Bob enjoyed flying, sailing, camping, gardening and duplicate bridge. His dependability, positive attitude and cheerful smile will be missed by his family and countless friends.
