Lois McMillen Salaun

Lois McMillen Salaun of Palmyra, Va. passed away peacefully at home on June 2, 2016 after a hard fought battle with lung cancer. Diagnosed after moving to Virginia to be near her children and grandchildren, she met the challenge with grace and strength, an example to all who knew her.

She is survived by her sister, Margaret Ann Potteiger; daughter, Laura Conklin Howard; son, Matthew Alan Conklin; and three grandchildren, Trey, Madeline and Jonas. She was preceded by her father, Donald Hamilton McMillen and her mother Martha McMillen Wetteroff.

She attended Florida Presbyterian College where she studied English and Spanish and then went on to graduate Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of North Florida. She had a successful career in financial services and legal administration.

She volunteered her time generously serving in leadership positions in several organizations including the Florida Youth Soccer Association, Koi Organization International, The Pilot Club and the Republican Woman’s Club. She was a certified Koi Health Advisor, avid sailor, bridge player, gardener, sports enthusiast and all around DIYer.

Exemplifying her value of service to others, she chose to donate her body to the Virginia State Anatomical Program to benefit education and science. Funeral services have been deferred at her request. Remembrances can be posted on the Remembering Lois group page on Facebook.
