Lawrence Lee Creasy

He was born on April 26, 1928, a son of the late Lloyd E. and Reva Mae Black Creasy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Creasy Dunn, and her husband, Ira T. Dunn, Jr.

“Uncle” Lawrence will be remembered by those who knew and loved him as a man who worked hard and loved all the animals that visited his farm. A shy, quiet, and self-educated man, he enjoyed reading, listening to the radio, playing the guitar, and studying and discussing verses from the Bible. He had a photographic memory of Fluvanna County history and the families that lived around the Nahor area, often remembering pre-Civil War families and farmers’ names and birthdates.

Survivors include a niece, Karen Dunn Mayry of Palmyra; three great-nieces, Aly Severance of Maynard, Massachusetts, Rachel Bower of Charlottesville, and Rebekah McGehee of Waynesboro; two great-nephews, Matthew Mayry of Santa Ana, California and Colin Mayry of Palmyra; a very close cousin, Mark A. Creasy and his family of Charlottesville; as well as numerous other cousins and neighbors who are greatly saddened by his passing.

A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at Thacker Brothers Lake Monticello Funeral Home. Entombment followed at Monticello Memory Gardens.
The family received friends from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, Virginia 22911.
