Dorothy A. Buswell “Dottie” died in Charlottesville, Va., on May 18, 2017. She was born on Aug. 27, 1923, in Bluefield, W.Va., to Maurice and Octavia Sameth.
Dottie lived at Lake Monticello for 39 years and previously raised a family in Arlington, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, W. Scott Buswell, who died April 14, 2005. Together they had four children: Scotty Buswell (deceased), Betsy Gunnels, Mary Woolman and Jim Buswell.
Dottie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She also was a volunteer with Red Cross, Fluvanna County Library, and Meals on Wheels. She and Scott were avid bridge and golf players. Dottie is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and her sweet dog, Amos.
The celebration of her life will be held at Lake Christian Church on Friday, May 26, 2017, at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served in the church hall after the service.
