Survivors include his wife, Hortense Lorraine (Tatro) Cory of Palmyra; eight children, Belinda Cory-Gunn, Windsor, CA; Jill Minyard, Columbus, MS; Pamela King, Middleboro, MA; Richard Cory, Kilmarnock, VA; Colette Backlund, Lynchburg, VA; Suzanne Willess, Chandler, AZ; Douglas Cory, Hilliard, OH; and Margot Gerrity, Buffalo Junction, VA; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a number of extended family and friends.
A memorial service was conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Thacker Brothers Lake Monticello Funeral Home by the Reverends Richard & Penny Cory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad, Inc. 10 Slice Rd Palmyra, VA 22963.
