Rob Browning with his art.It was hot, triple digit temperature day and in Palmyra they had no electricity, so things were heating up at Maggie’s house and elsewhere. But by 11, the lights and air conditioning were back on and the artists were chatting with onlookers about their work at the second annual Artist’s Studio Tour.

Loli and Paul Stams display thier art.This is the second time that the Fluvanna Art Association has hosted a husband and wife team of artists. A few years ago, Curtis Putnam and his then wife, Fei, exhibited their pottery. On Saturday (June16) the FAA hosted a well attended reception for exhibitors Paul and Delores (Loli) Stams at the Fork Union Community Center.

Paul does photography and this past winter spoke to members of the FAA about his unique and often offbeat photography. Delores or Loli as she is known to her friends and fellow artists, is more traditional in her approach to her art. Add a comment

Eight area artists will be participating in the upcoming Second Annual Artist’s Studio Tour to benefit the Fluvanna County Historical Society on June 30 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The Historical Society is sponsoring a studio tour to raise money for the Endowment Fund while promoting Fluvanna’s artists.

Betty Scholl demonstratied her painting technique.At their monthly meeting on Friday, Fluvanna Art Association members gathered for fellow artist Betty Scholl, who demonstrated how she approaches and creates abstract art. Scholl’s work has been in a few of the FAA shows and garnered many positive comments.

Scholl said her journey discovering abstract art began when her husband gave her a small set of watercolor paints. Hindered by watercolors, Scholl switched to acrylics.
