It has come to my attention that several news reports have mischaracterized the role of supervisor Bob Ullenbruch in Tuesday night’s vote by the Fluvanna Board of Supervisors to restore $300,000 to the school budget. In an interview with Channel 29, for example, Mr. Ullenbruch misleads a reporter by saying that he cast a vote in favor of the measure because of his concern for teachers. In fact, Mr. Ullenbruch clearly stated during debate that he would only support the motion if there were an understanding that $900,000 would be cut from the budget next year, and two schools would be closed. Mr. Ullenbruch offered an immediate band-aid in exchange for a fatal wound in the future. He is no friend of Fluvanna’s teachers, or the children they teach.
