Gold nugget winner

The Virginia Gold Hounds have had raffles annually for many years to replenish our treasury for charitable causes and buying the nuggets if we can`t find any for the raffles.
We appreciate your support in purchasing tickets and invite you to come to our meetings to check us out the second Saturday of every month. The last raffle started in July and ended on Dec. 8 with the drawing of 200 tickets or less.
An amusing story happened about the winner Chris Fairchild from Palmyra. I had been selling tickets since July to friends, strangers and people at the Lake Bistro and the Dogwood restaurants and people from Louisa, Northern Virginia, Charlottesville and my family.
The last week of November, I sold the last seven tickets I had. Chris bought two, two poker players bought one each leaving me with three.
I needed to sell my remaining tickets and later went into the restaurant side of the Dogwood. Chris was having dinner with his friends and I interrupted them and offered Chris my remaining tickets at a discounted rate.
I told Chris the family that bought the winning Powerball tickets the day of the drawing was lucky and I guaranteed him of a win on the same basis. Of course, I told everyone who bought tickets the same story. That’s what sales people do, don`t you agree? You can guess my shock at the winner being announced!
We will continue to appreciate your support in future raffles in the fall.
