“FlucoTV has done live stream sports events, so people can watch wherever you are,” said Amy Parks, one of Small’s students.  “Which is awesome, because we have students who have families in Afghanistan who have been able to watch what their children at home are doing.”

Small has brought in local celebrities like CBS 19 reporter Jessica Cunnington and independent filmmaker Jonathan Dickinson to show students how the skills they’re learning can apply to a career.

“We use [the film editing software] Final Cut Pro 10.  It’s very advanced, everyone in the class knows it so well,” said TV production student Taylor Dillon.  “It’s really prepared us for anything we want to do in the future.”

Fluvanna Middle School Point of Pride

The Fluvanna Middle School Student Government Association presented a routine they called “school explosion” to the school board on Wednesday (May 8). Schools The routine used cups and flags in a rhythmic way, based off of the teen-hit film Pitch Perfect.

Social studies teacher Stephanie Frazier advises the group and said the students have gone “above and beyond” this year.  Their efforts have included raising $280 for Louisa County’s rebuilding efforts after last year’s earthquake and over $2,000 for Pennies for Patients for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  They are currently planning Field Day.
