Of this year’s award recipients at Fluvanna County High School, six are seniors: Bryce Campanelli, Hannah Corbin, John Douma, Jesse Loktis, Mary McGehee, and Helen Wood. These students have one more year in which to complete college-level work and possibly earn a higher-level AP Scholar Award.

The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program provides willing and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams. Fluvanna County High School had 64 students take AP exams during the 2012-13 school year. Twenty-six percent of these students earned the AP Scholar honor. This compares with 17 percent in 2011-12.

The high school continues to expand the AP course offerings. For the 2013-2014 school year, the high school added AP human geography and AP world history.
