The moderate Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor is Senator Ralph Northam, a pediatric neurologist in Norfolk. Dr. Northam is the only physician in the Virginia Senate. He led the fight against the invasive ultrasound requirements last year. He supports a pathway to Medicaid expansion because it will save taxpayers billions of dollars and create 30,000 new health care related jobs in Virginia. He knows how the Virginia legislature works, and knows how to work with both Democrats and Republicans to get things done.
The Lieutenant Governor is the first in line to become governor if the governor is unable to complete his term in office. If something were to happen to the governor, I have peace of mind that Senator Northam would be able to govern with a steady hand. Be sure to be one person – one vote on November 5.
