Don’t be fooled

I was excited to get my Fluvanna Real Estate tax bill and discover the tax rate was unchanged at $.795/$100. I thought the Board of Supervisors had jacked our taxes 11% to a record $.88/$100 making Fluvanna the highest county tax rate in central Virginia. On closer examination I find they did, in fact, charge me $.88 but one must extend the calculation to realize it. Neighbors, do not be fooled by the stated tax rate! You are paying the $.88 rate. The budget also calls for another massive borrowing of over $10 million for the Capital Improvements Program. Call your supervisor and demand a referendum for any borrowing that adds to our crushing $100 million debt load.
