News you can use

Congratulations on an excellent Dec. 18 issue, full of useful information.
Christina Dimeo Guseman’s continuing coverage of the Aqua Virginia issues is outstanding, particularly the dramatically easy to understand table of rate increases 1996-2014. Each of us Aqua Virginia customers should use this information to lobby our representatives to stop this effort to line the pockets of Aqua stockholders.
Tricia Johnson’s review of the meadows project at Pleasant Grove showcases another instance of collaboration, this time between county government agencies and volunteer Master Naturalists. The multiple uses of the Pleasant Grove property are a model for other counties to emulate. I’m looking forward to walking these new trails next summer.
Finally, the inspiration of Fluvanna County High School art teachers to use a computer project to turn Central Elementary second graders’ monster drawings into clay 3-D toys is commendable. The younger students surely have gained a new enthusiasm for learning. And the high school students have experienced a potential career in applied art. As a bonus, Stephanie Pellicane, a high school student writer, is to be commended for the clear picture she gives us of the young students’ excitement.
Kudos to all involved.
Thanks for your continuing good work.
