Flucos

Morgan Symmers, the outstanding goalie on the Fluco soccer team, signed to continue her career at the Division 1 level. She committed to play at George Mason University. GMU competes in the Atlantic Ten conference. The conference includes nearby schools such as VCU, University of Richmond and George Washington University. It also includes some schools that are not so nearby, such as St. Louis University and U. Mass and Rhode Island. Symmers noted that she expects to be the back-up goalie in her freshman year, but to have a good chance of stepping in as the starter later.

Kiana Childress and Cody Gibson both signed with schools that play in the Division III Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Childress signed to continue her basketball career at Lynchburg College, while Gibson signed to play baseball at Eastern Mennonite University, in Harrisonburg. Childress noted that she expects to play point guard. Gibson stated that one reason that he chose Eastern Mennonite is that they told him that they wanted to use him primarily as a pitcher.

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference is made up of a large group of private universities, located almost exclusively in Virginia. Childress and  Gibson will compete against schools such as Hampton-Sydney, Bridgewater and Washington and Lee.

Symmers was accompanied by parents Kimberly Keim and Jamie Symmers. Childress was accompanied by her mother, Melinda Childress, and Gibson was accompanied by parents Nicole and Shannon Gibson.
