The game was an amazing pitchers’ duel. Fluco junior Annaliese Kennedy, an early signee to pitch at Appalachia State, went into the seventh inning with a one hitter. She faced one batter over the minimum in six innings. Unfortunately, the Fluco had no hits going into the seventh and had managed only one base runner. In the top of the seventh, the Golden Cavaliers broke through against Kennedy. They came up with three solid singles and a squib infield hit and the Flucos made one throwing error. The result was three runs in the top of the seventh. Senior outfielder Tiffany Shaheen led off the bottom of the seventh for the Flucos with a bunt single. She advanced to third on Kiersten Allen’s sacrifice bunt. But, the next two batters made outs and the Fluco season is over. They finished 20-4. –– Duncan Nixon
